Ubisoft Bordeaux Might Have Begun Work On Next Assassin’s Creed

Mirage has been a sprawling success so far.

Story Highlights

  • Ubisoft Bordeaux is the famed developer behind Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
  • A new hireling at the studio says that he’s working on the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
  • This hints that Ubisoft Bordeaux might have another Assassin’s Creed game in the works.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage may have its ups and downs, but it’s still pretty adamant about delivering a true Assassin’s Creed experience—something that this franchise hasn’t been living up to for a while now. If it’s any good news to you, the developer of the fresh release Ubisoft Bordeaux might have another pertinent project in the works, as hinted by Rik Godwin, a new hireling at the studio.

Rik recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to proclaim that he’s recently joined Ubisoft Bordeaux as the Lead Writer, and is now “working on the Assassin’s Creed franchise.” From the way that sounds, it’s clear that the developer has another Assassin’s Creed title in the pipeline, and has already started amassing talent to accomplish the task at hand, even if the wording there feels a bit vague.

If you head over to the official Ubisoft website and scoot on over to the Bordeaux portion, you’ll come across a description there, one that details the studio’s ambitions while seemingly spilling the beans on what Bordeaux is currently up to. “The studio has an innovation department with a game in progress, not yet announced,” so there’s that as well.

Elsewhere, it bears mentioning that Ubisoft has a plethora of Assassin’s Creed projects in the works at the moment, including Jade, Invictus, Red, Hexe, Infinity, and more. One that’s talked about the most these days is Assassin’s Creed Red, which has been said to be, “the future of [Ubisoft’s] open-world RPG games on Assassin’s Creed,” set in Feudal Japan with a shinobi premise.

Other Content to Get Into:

On a side note, if you’ve been waiting to get your hands on the game, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is on a 20% off sale on the official Ubisoft storefront at the moment, which gets it discounted to $47.99. This, of course, is the Deluxe Edition of the action-adventure parkour-driven title, with extra content to take into account as well.

It sure is interesting to note what the devs have in store for the next Assassin’s Creed game, given how they took a U-return with the IP and manifested it almost from the start. This back-to-basics approach has paid off for the devs and the fans, and it is possible that for its future, Bordeaux will explore a similar avenue that’s tried and tested and not a shot in the dark.

Mirage was released on October 5, 2023, for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. eXputer reviewed the game and rated it 3.5/5, with Usama Mehmood saying, “Despite its problems, Assassin’s Creed Mirage genuinely feels like a love letter to the games in the series that kickstarted its legacy.” If you’re a new player, here are the 4 best tools to make the best of in the game.
