Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Lets Players Acquire Iconic Weapons They Might Have Missed

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty has done much to live up to the expectations players had during the game’s initial release. One of the biggest changes this update brings to the game is a way for players to regain Iconic weapons. These weapons, as the name implies, have distinct models, and could previously only be unlocked once during a single playthrough.

Some details regarding the game’s Iconic weapons were mentioned in Phantom Liberty’s patch notes. But it was only recently that a Redditor saw an in-game tip that confirmed these weapons are now easily purchasable. Players will have to head to a black market vendor in Dogtown. This serves as the new setting in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. It’s likely there are multiple black market vendors players can go to for this.

While some might find that this detracts from the unique feeling of these weapons, it actually falls in line with the lore and story of Phantom Liberty’s Dogtown. It’s supposed to be a grimy neighborhood and a hub for finding all sorts of weapons to add to your arsenal. Many of these are hard, or even outright impossible to find in Night City.  So it only makes sense why these Iconic weapons would appear in Dogtown of all places.

But most importantly, this new addition is a boon for gun enthusiasts. Previously, if you weren’t following a guide closely, you could easily miss out on the chance to get some cool-looking Iconic weapons. There’s a total of 48 in the base game, with multiple new ones recently added as a part of Phantom Liberty. And so, a way for players to collect these unique weapons if they missed out on them was severely needed.

It’s worth noting for the black market vendor to become available, players will need to purchase the Phantom Liberty DLC. For some that might seem like a deal breaker, since it essentially paywalls a feature that’s rather important for gameplay. But considering the sheer amount of other improvements the Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update added to the game, it’s clearly worth the price.
