The Epic Games Store strikes yet again with its blessings for the gaming community. Evil Dead: The Game will be going free-to-play on the popular storefront starting November 17. The listing has now appeared on the official Epic Games Store handle. Feel free to check it out yourself.
Saber Interactive’s latest survival horror title will be getting added to the ever-growing list of the Epic Games Store’s catalog of free games, as first spotted by ResetEra user and industry insider AndreasBR_. They have taken to the popular gaming forum to make the announcement.
The Rundown:
- The Epic Games Store is one of the most famous PC video game storefronts in the entire world and it has this truly remarkable habit of handing out free games every week. As long as you redeem them in due time, they’re yours to keep forever, unlike the subscription models of PS+ or Xbox Live Gold.
- The latest game to have its name marked as a free-to-play Epic title is set to be Evil Dead: The Game. It’s a 2022 survival horror game that has managed to amass positive reviews and ratings upon launch, thereby serving as a treat to die-hard fans of the Evil Dead franchise.
- Right alongside the Evil Dead-based third-person shooter, you’ll also be given the opportunity to grab Dark Deity—a strategy RPG with tactical mechanics.
- The free-to-play time period will stay between November 17 and November 24. Make sure to redeem your free purchase in between to keep the on-sale games forever.
In case you missed out, Evil Dead: The Game sold about 500,000 units in its first 5 days, thereby spelling early success for a game that had quite the anticipation to its name. That is to say, Evil Dead: The Game was announced at The Game Awards 2020 with an enticing reveal trailer.
From the perspective of the storyline, the title sees the franchise’s beloved Bruce Campbell stepping into the shoes of Ash Williams right alongside Dana DeLorenzo as Kelly Maxwell. However, this is no single-player venture that we’re on about.
Evil Dead: The Game is centered on co-op gameplay with a deep-dyed emphasis on multiplayer mechanics. We say this because you will need an internet connection to play the single-player campaign as well.
If you’re about to enjoy the third-person shooter for the first time, expect skill trees, a level-up system, and a whole lot of guts flying around in the air in the wake of your Ash’s chainsaw.
Evil Dead: The Game will appear on the Epic Games Store as a free-to-play title on November 17th right alongside Dark Deity. The duo of games will be available to redeem from November 17 to November 24. Make sure you set time out to grab these two titles or you’ll be missing out on quite the fun.
Do let us know in the comments section ahead whether you’ve been meaning to try this one out. For some, the occasion is perfect, but for others, pure misfortune, considering how they only recently bought the game. How about you?
