Evil Dead: The Game Sold 500,000 Units In It’s First 5 Days

The game launched on Friday 13th May and has already reached the Half Million mark

Horror video games have become a huge part of the industry in the past few years. Games like Outlast, Silent Hill and Resident Evil have made the genre really popular among players. It doesn’t matter if they are based on survival or full blown combat, horror games are always in demand. Multiplayer and media tie-ins have revolutionized the genre and a games like Dead by Daylight are a great example of that. One such multiplayer horror game based on a popular movie is Evil Dead: The Game. Developers Saber Interactive launched the game just this week and it has already reached a huge milestone.

Evil Dead: The Game has already sold 500,000 units worldwide since its launch according to Saber Interactive. The game only released a few days ago on the very fitting date of Friday the 13th May. So, the game has sold half a million units in just 5 days after its launch. Media holding company Embracer Investor broke the news of this landmark on Twitter.

Selling this much in its first 5 days is a huge success for the franchise. Evil Dead games have always been a hit and miss throughout their history. Not many of them have been very successful and the reviews also aren’t the best. But, Evil Dead: The Game has broken this trend with such huge sales numbers in its first week. Its a huge win for Saber interactive and the Evil Dead franchise.

Another important feature of the game is how its a Multiplayer co-op. Everyone loves single player games but making a multiplayer Evil Dead is probably the right decision. It allows the game to have long legs and sell consistently in the upcoming months. So, Evil Dead: The Game can further improve these numbers if the developers keep the game fresh.

There are some doubts about how Saber will keep the multiplayer game updated with content. Evil Dead doesn’t have a very deep lore and its mostly limited to the mainline movies. So, its hard to see how the developers will keep Evil Dead: The Game ripe with content in the coming months. A new map is coming to it but hopefully they have much more planned beyond that.

A Nintendo Switch release is also still to come as it saw a delay before. Evil Dead The Game is only available on the PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One and the Xbox Series X and S as of now. No release date is available for the Switch version but whenever it comes it will improve the sales numbers even more. Hopefully, its sooner rather than later.
