                                                                            Story Highlights

  • Final Fantasy 16 is an action RPG developed by Creative Business Unit III and published by Square Enix.
  • A PC port for Final Fantasy 16 is currently in development with no release date as of yet.
  • According to producer Naoki Yoshida, we may get playable Jill and Cid in Final Fantasy 16 if the PC port does well.

Final Fantasy 16 fans continue to eat good. Right after the release of a major DLC, producer Naoki Yoshida has teased that the game might also receive new playable characters in the future. Speaking to Famitsu, Yoshida-san teased the possibility of making Jill and Cid into playable characters if the PC version ends up doing well once it comes out, whenever it happens.

If the PC version is released and there is a lot of excitement, I feel that it would be more interesting to add a bonus such as being able to control Cid and Jill in the main story, rather than collaborating.”

Throughout Final Fantasy 16, the main character Clive is frequently accompanied by various characters including Jill and Cid who fight alongside him in combat. Clive is the only playable character in the game, with the addition of Ifrit during the Eikon boss battles. Ifrit itself is designed with a lot of Clive’s abilities in mind and feels like an extension of his playstyle.

Clive himself is an exceptionally designed character in gameplay with a versatile array of moves and in-depth customization. Taking control of Clive in combat is one of the highlights of the Final Fantasy 16 experience, so it would be interesting to have alternate playable characters with their moveset and playstyle similar to other action games of its caliber.

Final Fantasy 16 Crystal
What secrets are you hiding?

A date for the PC version still hasn’t been confirmed but we can likely expect some news when Sony’s exclusivity deal ends at the end of this year. Until then, fans still have one more expansion pack to look forward to in the form of The Rising Tide, featuring the introduction of Leviathan for the first time in the game. Players will also be able to see what’s the giant crystal at the edge of Sanbreque.

If all goes well maybe we’ll get to see the wise-cracking, lightning wielder, and the snow queen in actual gameplay this time.
