  • Despite being a reboot, Armored Core 6 does not abandon its roots and will only enhance the formula while upgrading it with new features and changes.

FromSoftware’s Armored Core 6 producer Yasuhiro Kitao has revealed that seemingly many unannounced games are currently in the brewer behind the doors of the studio. In an interview with Eurogamer, the producer clarified the detail while divulging the specifics for its upcoming Armored Core entry. The momentous conglomerate will follow its old ethos of producing entries in bulk behind the scenes while retaining the quality fans know and love.

We do develop multiple titles simultaneously, we do have several teams working on different projects. We hope to stagger our releases and bring something new and exciting at hopefully not so long intervals going forward,” says producer Yasuhiro Kitao.

From the wording of it, Yasuhiro affirms that many varied projects are in development, and they will be released at “hopefully not so long intervals going forward,” suggesting a short time frame between releases. Judging from the release time between Elden Ring and the upcoming Armored Core 6, we can expect the new games to release over periods of around two years or less.

Regardless, things are subject to change, and it is best to take this statement with a grain of salt; the interview discusses an ideal scenario where everything goes according to a set plan. The discussion also consisted of many prominent points about Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, affirming many parts that have been previously stated and discussing many juicy elements that will be added to the reboot of the series.

Armored Core 6 was reportedly always planned by FromSoftware; it was just a matter of when it would occur. “Miyazaki, who have always wanted to make another Armored Core. So there really wasn’t any question of whether it was going to be made or not, it was just a question of when,” says producer Yasunori Ogura. The title does not abandon the roots that made it triumphant but only enhances them to a new level for more fun.

With Armored Core 6 we’re trying to incorporate these elements in a way that does not taint the original qualities of what makes Armored Core what it is. We’re trying to incorporate these elements in a way that lets them coexist and gel nicely with our modern game design philosophy and be understood easily by the player without spoiling that core concept of Armored Core,” stated Yamamura.

Armored Core 6 was initially revealed at The Game Awards event last year, but one lingering feeling dominated the hearts of most gamers. Fans wondered whether the new installment would resemble the highly-successful Souls-like formula helmed by the studio. Regardless, the studio president Hidetaka Miyazaki was quick to shut down the rumors in an interview. The game will play like its unique entity without being tainted by Dark Souls.

FromSoftware is among the highly notable studios in the gaming sphere, helming some of the best projects known to gamers around the globe. While it recently released the 2022’s Game of the Year winner, Elden Ring, fans thought the studio would slow down for the next few years. Regardless, it is not the case.
