Story Highlights
- Hades 2 is the sequel to the 2020-released Hades by Supergiant Games, a brilliant roguelike RPG.
- The developer is currently conducting a technical test for Hades 2 in order to receive player feedback.
- Only a limited number of players could join at first, but Supergiant now wants to get more users in.
Supergiant Games made quite a hit in the name of Hades when it launched the roguelike back in 2020, making waves across the industry for the sheer quality of the game. Now, the developer is striving to launch Hades 2, but before that can happen, it’s inviting players to try out the RPG and provide feedback so it’s possible to implement polishes ahead of the title’s early access release.
Taking to Twitter (previously X) in recent times, however, Supergiant Games announced that those who couldn’t get into Hades 2’s technical test the first time around might want to keep their eyes on their inbox now. The developer is welcoming more players at the moment and will continue to do so as the weeks go by. Thankfully, this gives me hope, as I happen to be on the wait list as well seemingly.

Hades 2, Featuring A New Protagonist, Is Off To A Solid Start
As the technical test of the title continues, I’ve been hearing nothing but awesome stuff about Hades 2. Now bear in mind that despite the display of overall quality, graphics, and gameplay, this still is a very, very early version of the roguelike, so keep your expectations tame as you dive into it.
From what I can tell so far, Hades 2 is more of a mild upgrade rather than a major one, but definitely not in the domain of getting called a “reskin” of the first game. Nevertheless, being a fan of the first iteration in the franchise and having sunk so many hours into it, I will be picking this up in early access, which, according to the dev, will go live as soon as the tech test running for 2-3 weeks is over.
We’re conducting the Hades II Technical Test prior to our Early Access launch to help us find and solve any technical issues we might have missed thus far, to ensure anyone who tries Hades II in Early Access can have a smooth play experience from the start. The Technical Test contains much less content than what’s in store for the Early Access launch, and may be available only to a relatively small subset of players who express interest in participating,” says Supergiant.
Hades came out on September 17, 2020, for PC and Switch, followed by ports to last- and current-gen consoles in 2021. Although Supergiant hasn’t confirmed the platforms for the sequel yet, I wager it’s likely going to be on the same systems.
