Story Highlights
- Helldivers 2 is a 4-player action co-op game developed by Arrowhead.
- Players are struggling to log into Helldivers 2 thanks to limited server capacity.
- Arrowhead CEO Pilestedt requested a broke player to wait until the servers were fixed before purchasing the game.
Eager to jump into Helldivers 2 but tight on money? Maybe it’s better to wait until the servers are fixed. These aren’t my words, instead, they come straight from Arrowhead CEO and Helldivers 2 Creative Director Johan Pilestedt.
Responding to a user on Twitter lamenting that they find themselves unable to jump into the hit co-op title thanks to money problems, the director responded by requesting the user not to spend their last earnings on the game, at least not until the server capacity issues are fixed. A classy response from a developer that continues to win the hearts of the community with every statement.
If you have no cash, get it later. While we made a really fun game it's worth waiting until the servers can support the capacity.
I mean, as a CEO I of course want the game to be as profitable as possible, but if you spent yr last $ and got stuck in server queues I'd be 💔

While the Helldivers 2 success story continues, the game is currently facing trouble thanks to its limited server capacity. Many players have mentioned being unable to log in thanks to the servers being frequently filled up. IGN has even reported that many players are refusing to log out of the game just so they don’t have to be stuck waiting in the server queue.
This is because the dev team didn’t expect players in such huge numbers but according to the director, the team has been working “24/7” in order to ensure that the server capacity issues are resolved. Arrowhead has temporarily capped the concurrent players to 450,000 to maintain server stability.
Helldivers 2 was released on February 8, 2024, for the PlayStation 5 and PC and has been the second major success story of the year following the explosive success of Palworld. With player counts higher than even hard-hitting titles such as Bungie’s Destiny 2, it is easy to see why the servers have been struggling to keep up as Arrowhead is a relatively small company.
Thankfully, the success of Helldivers 2 has allowed the company to hire more staff to increase momentum in development.
