Hideo Kojima Talks About Why He Is Keeping Death Stranding In The Dark

The Reason Is Pretty Simple If You Think About It

Death Stranding is a game that Hideo Kojima is working on right now and even though it has been in development for a long time and we have had s few looks at the game, we do not know what the game is going to be about or any clear details regarding what we are going to get.

Hideo Kojima has been very secretive about Death Stranding and even at E3 2018, we got a look at the game but we could make little out of what we were seeing. Hideo Kojima was asked about the game and why he was choosing to take this approach when it came to showing parts of the game and giving details. The following is what he had to say about that:

“We live in a time of social networks. In this time, people just want immediate answers, but not only answers, they also want to know what they feel. This is good, this is bad. This is a game I should like. This is a game I shouldn’t like. They want answers for what they should think.”

Social media does have a huge role to play in all this and we see that people find out more than what they really need to know due to leaks and what not. Some publishers also tend to reveal more abou the game so that people know what they are buying. Kojima further went on to say:

“It’s like a math problem, where knowing the answer is not that important. The important thing is the process of getting to the answer. I don’t want to take away the most fun part for the players,”

Hideo Kojima does have a point here, both from a player point of view and a marketing point of view. Not knowing what to expect creates a sense of mystery and the player will learn what the game is about after putting in the hours and after getting into the world. Death Stranding appears to be a very interesting experience indeed and I for one am very excited to play the game when it comes out.
