- The upcoming Wolverine will also be set in Universe 1048.

Bryan Intihar, the Creative Director of the recent phenomenon, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has confirmed that the game is set in the same universe as Insomniac’s upcoming title, Marvel’s Wolverine. Ever since the studio revealed the latter, superhero fans have been curious about the title’s details and whether Logan will ever cross paths with Spider-Man.
In an interview with Kinda Funny Games, Spider-Man 2’s creative director confirms the existence of Wolverine in the same universe, Earth-1048. “They’re all 1048, I think I got that right,” said Intihar. You can watch the clip from the 1:10:44 mark.
While Wolverine has been once teased in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 through an easter egg, a Miles’ suit clearly inspired by Wolverine, there seems no connection between the two games other than that. Upon being asked about not including a Logan cameo in the latest title, Intihar said that the move was intentional. They wanted both teams to fully focus on their respective games.
I’m just trying to learn how to make Spider-Man or try to get Spider-Man off the ground. While there’s another Marvel thing I’m trying to get. I think for us it’s a ‘let just let’s let that team cook, you know, let them cook.’ And let them make the game they want to make.”
Although both Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine are under Insomniac’s leadership, they are internally being handled by two different teams. Still, with the critical success and acclaim, the studio has gathered with their latest release, it’s possible that the studio will make Marvel’s titles interact in some way now that the universe is the same.
