In a recent interview with IGN, Konami revealed that it would consider remaking other Metal Gear titles depending on the players’ demand. Another reason for this was the game’s depiction of the Naked Snake’s inception, becoming the series’ starting point.

After Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater’s reveal during the PlayStation showcase, fans had many questions regarding Konami’s decision to choose this title specifically and whether there is hope for other titles to receive the same treatment. Although Konami refrained from discussing details about its ongoing projects and other brand-new games, it answered several other queries to quench the fans’ curiosity.

We chose Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater because it depicts the birth of BIG BOSS (Naked Snake), which is the starting point of the Metal Gear series. Another reason is that many fans have been requesting a remake of this game for a long time,” says the Konami spokesperson.

Going into more detail about whether Konami would remake other titles from the series, a spokesperson replied, “Regarding remakes of previous games in the series other than Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, we will listen to player demand and consider accordingly.” So, fans’ opinions and demands will considerably affect Konami’s direction with the series’s revival.

Since the developers had already explained the reason behind the Delta symbol (Δ) in a Twitter post, the only remaining question was whether Hideo Kojima was involved in this project. IGN extended this question by asking about Yoji Shinkawa’s involvement as well, since he, along with Kojima, played a critical role in making the Metal Gear Solid series.

They are not involved. However, the development team will work hard to create this remake and also the ports [for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection] so that they can be enjoyed on multiple platforms by even more players all around the world.”

Nevertheless, Konami ensured that the “central role” will be carried out by Konami developers who have worked on several games from the Metal Gear series in the past. Konami also confirmed a previous rumor that Virtuos, a studio that was “involved in the production of previous entries in the Metal Gear series,” will work with the Konami developers.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was announced alongside Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, which comprises the original Metal Gear Solid, Sons of Liberty, Snake Eater, and Metal Gear 1 and 2. The collection is scheduled to release later this year for the PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
