Star Wars: KOTOR Remake has been in murky waters since it was officially revealed, but a recent update has instilled further disarray among the enthusiastic fans. Sony has quietly removed the original PS5 trailer for the game without an explanation. The popular PS Showcase reveal trailer was shown in September 2021, but now it has been delisted from the official YouTube channel and the blog site.
The abrupt removal was noticed by the Reddit user u/TricolorChutoy on the popular r/GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit. Many theories have started brewing on the forums — almost all of them lead to the grim conclusion that the KOTOR Remake has been canceled.
The Twitter user @Crusader3456 soon later shared a treasure trove of information on the matter. It seems like Sony has not only removed the trailer of the entry but also cleared all the posts that mention KOTOR Remake in some way. Only a single post from two years ago is still up on the official PlayStation Twitter account referencing the title, which cites multiple entries that were to be announced in the PS Showcase event.

It is worth noting that the PlayStation Twitter account has only deleted posts that mention KOTOR Remake specifically, leaving everything else from the 2021 PS Showcase online. This comes as a shock to the fans of the KOTOR Remake because the drastic actions only imply that the title has been dumped behind the scenes.

Some optimistic fans have speculated that maybe a new trailer is on the way. Or perhaps the trailer is deleted because the title has recently moved to Saber Interactive. These theories do not explain why the posts mentioning the entry were also deleted from Twitter. All in all, a profusion of confusion is brewing on the recent KOTOR Remake trailer takedown.
Previous rumors suggest that KOTOR Remake was still in development for PS5 and PC; the Q4 and full-FY Embracer Group report stated the game to be in the works “as of May 24, 2023.” The CEO was also questioned about the project during an investors meeting call in May; he replied with “favorite question. [pauses as questioner chuckles] No further comments.”
We suggest taking the unfolding situation with a grain of salt until any official update from Embracer or Sony is shared. Fans are pointing fingers at Embracer Group because it has been divesting studios and trying to stabilize after purchasing a lot of studios. A lot of layoffs and divestments could have resulted in the game finally getting shelved behind the curtains.
