League of Legends is one of the oldest and most profound multiplayer games of the 21st century. Although receiving a lot of hate, it still has a massive player base, players that wait patiently for new patches and updates as they frequently change up the entire game and the characters within it. Fortunately, this new one does not disappoint.
Balancing a game is an art, and one League of Legends is quite proficient at. Throwing out patches often while simultaneously keeping the game fresh is something they have mastered after many years of balancing and updating. Seeing the amount of positive changes in this patch via the nerfs they decided to dish out show that the team behind these patches are not afraid to rile up the community. And sure, sometimes they go overboard, but many times it is necessary.
The last 12.22 League patch focused on extreme hero changes to balance the power dynamics. It was the last patch of Dragonlands, and the team had decided to double down on the Treasure Dragon mechanic and ship a ton of buffs and some reworks.
Well, this time around, they decided to push out a patch that focuses more on the nerf side in order to counter-react with the many buffs that have been given out for the previous handful of patches.
Before getting into the details of patch 13.1B, the team had a small note regarding the patch delays. Due to the recent social engineering attack, League’s Patch 13.2 will not be deployed on 1/24 as planned. The dev teams have been working hard over the last couple of days and have a hotfix prepared to be deployed on Thursday.
Firstly we have some changes to Aram. The most prominent of these changes is the limit to the boxes. Shaco can now only have 6 boxes on the map at a time. Placing a trap in excess of this number will result in the box with the least amount of time left before disappearing.
For Gangplank, he has been nerfed to some extent, making his endgame weaker, but not too different from the current live status. His AD growth bonus damage both have gone down by a minor degree.
Apart from other champions, Lillia has received the brunt of the nerfs. Passive AP scaling increased, Q AP scaling increased, E AP scaling increased, and cooldown now decreased with rank. The details of the patch also strike upon the cooldown aspect of this champions kit.
And lastly, we have some NPC buffs and nerfs coupled with many new item changes. As the overall heroes have also received a ton of changes.
Overall, an extremely explosive and content-filled patch that shows how much the team still commits to the game. If patches like these are occurrent, we should be able to view League Of Legends as a great game for years to come.
