Announced alongside the Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater remake at the PlayStation Showcase, the Master Collection Vol.1 is set to release for all platforms this October. In the recent Nintendo Direct, Konami gave us more details about what this compilation will contain on release. First up, it will contain six different titles from the franchise, seven if you count alternate versions.

All of Metal Gear (MSX version), Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid(includes VR Missions/Specials Missions), Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (HD Collection version), Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (HD Collection version), Metal Gear (NES version), and Snake’s Revenge are part of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1. Besides these games, the compilation also contain a lot of other stuff.

First up, visual novels based on Metal Gear Solid 1 & 2 will also be present in the $59.99 collection. In addition, the Konami collection also comprises several digital books including Metal Gear Solid: Screenplay Book, Metal Gear Solid: Master Book, Metal Gear Solid 2: Screenplay Book, Metal Gear Solid 3: Screenplay Book, and Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Master Book.

Last but not least, players will also get to enjoy the digital soundtrack of the series, containing background music and vocal tracks played during Snake’s missions, in Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1. Moreover, even though the game is launching on the Switch in physical form, you will have to download additional data to run the compilation on the handheld.

According to the official Konami website, the game card will only have 2.4 GB loaded on it and you’ll have to download 24.1 GB + 30 GB of data for bonus videos. Therefore, you’ll have to wait a bit to play the legendary franchise after buying the physical edition on Switch. Even though Vol.1 is still a bit away, rumors are already circulating regarding Vol.2 and how it may contain Metal Gear Solid 4.

Hopefully, we get some info on this sequel compilation after Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 release for PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch on October 24, 2023.
