Dead Space with its fanbase is one stellar third-person shooter franchise that was last seen hitting the shelves more than 8 years ago. Word has been whisper-quiet on a new game ever since, but according to recent rumors (Gematsu), a Dead Space remake is in the works. Multiple verified sources, including Eurogamer, and Jeff Grub have come together to indicate that a new game is coming for this series, and followers have been going wild to hear such an interesting prospect.
That said, this upcoming title is suspected not to continue the storyline, but to be more of a rework of one game of the series. The Dead Space trilogy includes Dead Space, Dead Space 2, and Dead Space 3. The latter was released back in 2013, and it is possible that the reboot is of the series’ latest title, but that’s pure speculation from our side.
Adding some spice into the prospect, Jeff Grub has written an article for VentureBeat stating that important information has made its way to him. The next Dead Space title is going to feature similar elements from Resident Evil 2, which is one of Capcom‘s latest reinvigoration of the Resident Evil series.
The Electronic Arts studio Motive working on this game will not only embrace significant inspiration from the Resident Evil remakes but from the first Dead Space game as well. This would go on to blend modern-day graphics in classic Dead Space fashion. Additionally, Grubb says that we can expect new gameplay features to come as well.
It seems that EA is shifting its focus to single-player games now, and there’s a possibility of other EA titles like Mass Effect and Star Wars following suit. The developer has indeed come a long way from when it said, “Single-player games are finished.”
