One of the biggest Oculus investments and titles, Marvel Powers United VR, will no longer be playable after March 1, 2021. The news was confirmed in an email sent out to the game owners, stating that the game will no longer be purchasable and downloadable to the public. It also says that if you own the game, delete it before March 1, 2021, to avoid dead space.
“The time has come for us to say goodbye to MARVEL Powers United VR. Allowing the communicate to take on the role of fan-favorite Marvel Super Heroes in VR has brought us immense Joy. The email reads, ” You can continue playing the game through March 1, 2021, but MARVEL Powers United VR is no longer available for users to purchase or download. We recommend that you delete the game before March 1, 2021, to avoid dead space taken up on your device.
Nearly all game owners have received this email, and what’s confusing about it is that the email nowhere clarifies if the game will be playable after March 1. Other than that, it does not state the reason why it was removed; I reckon it must be due to Marvel licensing, which is pretty expensive.
Checking up the game’s official link on the store also confirmed it was removed. So far, Oculus hasn’t publicly spoken about this, but we hope they do because there is a fair amount of chance people are still buying the Oculus Marvel Powers United VR Special Edition Rift.
