Starbreeze has recently updated the community about the state of Payday 3 in a recent press release. The game has surpassed 3.1 million unique players in the month of September. On top of that, the devs have also fixed severe matchmaking issues reported since the launch. The Swedish studio also shared a completely packed schedule of upcoming fixes for the game.
The studio announced in an official blog that Payday 3 amassed over 3,167,938 unique players in the month of September. The game smashed an incredible number of 124,254 peak concurrent players in the last five days before October 2nd. Moreover, Starbreeze Nebula, the studio’s personal account system has a total of 4,538,702 registered users across all titles.
Starbreeze CEO Tobias Sjögren shared a grateful message with the community and promised to keep improving the game.
First and foremost, I would like to thank our players for the patience they have shown us. Our community is the engine that drives both our games and our company forward. I don’t really need to repeat that this was not the start we wanted, but at the same time, our business model is a marathon and not a sprint and we will tirelessly continue to build PAYDAY 3 bigger and better to deliver the greatest possible value for our players.”
Payday 3 has been a long-awaited title that arrived six years after its initial reveal. To much disappointment, the game failed to meet expectations due to a multitude of issues reported by the community resulting in mostly negative ratings on Steam. Starbreeze however has acknowledged the criticism promising hundreds of quality-of-life improvements plus new content and better functionality.

Additionally, fans have much to look forward to as the developer has announced a paid DLC for each upcoming season: Syntax Error (Winter 2023), Boys in Blue (Spring 2024), The Land of the Free (Summer 2024), and Fear and Greed (Fall 2024).
Payday 3 is the third installment in the cooperative first-person shooter game. The game came out on September 21 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
