The highly renowned and fan-favorite indie game Disco Elysium might be getting additional content soon. ZA/UM has now updated the game’s website with a “coming soon” banner that only anticipates a newer DLC or Sequel.
Last year Disco Elysium lead designer and writer Robert Kurvitz had a lengthy interview with Escapist magazine in which he said that the studio has ambitious plans for Disco Elysium expansion. Robert said they might look forward to either expansion (DLC) or a full sequel for Disco Elysium.
“We have an insanely ambitious list of projects we want to make in the Elysium setting,” Robert said. “The last one I want to make, when I’m 50 or 60, that I want to go crazy on and throw out all commercial considerations and get this as conceptual as possible is the tabletop setting. The working title for the tabletop setting is You Are Vapor. It will be a really, really, crazy pen-and-paper game.”
Apart from in-game expansion, Earlier this year, Variety reported that ZA/UM had partnered with production company DJ2 and was now looking to expand their footsteps in the movie entertainment business.
“We’re so gratified at the response Disco Elysium has received and very happy to be teaming with Dj2 to expand the franchise for other media and new audiences,” said ZA/UM’s lead writer Helen Hindpere.
“No writer is currently attached, nor is a network or streaming service,” says Variety’s report. “Dj2 is now meeting writers in anticipation of pitching the property later this year.” Safe to say it’s a while off then, I gather.
A brand new TV Series or maybe a game expansion wouldn’t be too bad for the single-player RPG Game. A new announcement at The Game Awards is very likely.
Update 1: Disco Elysium final cut has now been announced at The Game Awards. Check more on that here.
