Resident Evil 4 Remake System Requirements Revealed

Requirements are now available on the Steam page.

After a long period of anticipation, Capcom has finally given us a brief look into the upcoming Resident Evil 4 Remake. While the reveal led to a highly positive reception from fans and critics alike, many had still been concerned if the game would even run on their systems and had been waiting on Capcom to show Resident Evil 4’s system requirements.

Major Takeaways:

  • Resident Evil Remake System Requirements revealed.
  • Not as demanding as initially expected.
  • Will supposedly be able to run perfectly fine on most mid-range PCs.

Fortunately, Capcom has just announced Resident Evil 4’s system requirements on the game’s Steam page and it seems the game is going to be a lot less demanding than what was initially expected. The game’s requirements can be found below:

Resident Evil 4 Remake System Requirements

Here are the minimum system requirements required to play the Resident Evil 4 Remake.

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 (64 bit)
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 3 1200 / Intel Core i5-7500
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 560 with 4GB VRAM / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB VRAM
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Additional Notes: Estimated performance (when set to Prioritize Performance): 1080p/60fps. Framerate might drop in graphics-intensive scenes. AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 is required to support ray tracing.

On the flip side, here’s what the developer recommends you play with.

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 (64 bit)
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 / Intel Core i7 8700
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 5700 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Additional Notes: Estimated performance: 1080p/60fps. Framerate might drop in graphics-intensive scenes. AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 is required to support ray tracing.

This might prove to be a relief for many players, especially for those who saw the utterly insane system requirements for the upcoming Silent Hill 2 Remake.

Capcom has also included additional notes that Resident Evil 4 would run at a stable 1080p 60FPS on the recommended requirements and would require an RTX 2070/AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT for Ray Tracing support, which is personally an extremely helpful detail that more AAA games should include beforehand.

These requirements are also not that surprising when it’s noted that Resident Evil 4 will also launch on last-gen consoles like the PlayStation 4 instead of exclusively targeting current-gen hardware.

Optimization is something that’s becoming less and less worrisome over time, especially when it comes to Capcom’s recent games. All of Capcom’s games on the RE engine have been particularly well optimized to be able to run on most mid-ranged to even low-end PCs.

Resident Evil 4 Remake will release on 24th March 2023 and is currently available to pre-order for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
