Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Performance Mode Finally Welcomes 60 FPS On Consoles

Capcom took its time.

Story Highlights

  • Dragon’s Dogma 2 is an exceptionally remarkable RPG, released to modern platforms earlier in the year.
  • The game, nearly 7 months into its release, is welcoming updates, changes, and features consistently.
  • The latest addition brings a 60 FPS option for consoles in their respective Performance Modes.

Following considerable backlash after launch, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has now been patched with an update that brings the long-demanded 60 FPS mode on consoles. The Performance Mode of your PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X should now be able to push out those extra frames at the obvious expense of reduced visuals. Make sure to check your game for updates if it didn’t download any in recent times.

Changed the options in ‘Graphics’ within the Options menu to ‘Prioritize Graphics’ and ‘Prioritize Performance,'” affirms the developer.

As the news found itself circulating on Reddit, many players shared similar sentiments in that patience in gaming pays off and how buying a major release on day one rarely goes right. Can’t say I disagree to that—we have innumerable examples on this front to call out in the name of Cyberpunk 2077, No Man’s Sky, and others.

Now here’s one game whose hype was worth pursuing. Dragon’s Dogma 2 came out after years and years of long anticipation, and I could not be more glad that Capcom has turned up with a product that meets all expectations. The hyper-evolving in-game world of the title coupled with terrific combat and an intriguing storyline rares leaves room for improvement, though, yes, the situation at launch could’ve been better.

Anyway, water under the bridge, I’d say, since the developer has seriously tweaked the RPG over the course of its release, fine-tuning it to near perfection. I will admit that, if nothing else, it does make a case for how more AAA titles need to be more cultured on launch. It’s our money on the line, after all.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 was released on March 24, 2024, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. eXputer reviewed the ambitious RPG, rating it 4.0/5.0, with author Huzaifah Durrani remarking,

Its performance may be disappointing, but don’t let that detract from the fact that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is still one of the best RPGs ever made.”
