Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League Failed To Meet Expectations, Says Warner Bros.

During a recent financial report, Gunnar Wiedenfels, Warner Bros. Discovery’s chief financial officer, said that Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League has “fallen short” of their expectations. As reported by IGN, Wiedenfels also said that the live-service title’s underwhelming performance has set up the company’s game business for a “tough” year ahead.

This year, Suicide Squad, one of our key video game releases in 2024, has fallen short of our expectations since its release earlier in the quarter, setting our games business up for a tough year-over-year comp in Q1,” the chief financial officer said.

Comparatively, Warner Bros released Hogwarts Legacy in Q1 last year, which went on to become a best-selling title over the year. On the other hand, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League has not been doing great, with a peak player count of 13,459 on Steam, recorded shortly after release. According to SteamDB, the player count continues to go down each day.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League was released on January 30. The game was developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Warner Bros. Games. The game has had a fair amount of controversy since before its launch due to leaks and delays. The title also had to go under maintenance an hour after release due to a game-breaking bug. What Warner Bros. and Rocksteady have planned for the live-service title in the future remains to be seen.
