Story Highlights
- Tekken 8 has remained one of the most hyped fighting games for multiple years now, dating its predecessor’s release back to 2015. The game has been officially announced and multiple characters are currently being showcased after certain intervals of time.
- While the game does not have a solid release window as of yet, where people’s speculations revolve around early 2024, the title screen for the upcoming fighter has surfaced in quite a subtle manner.
- The title’s start screen can be noticed easily in the background of a recently posted photo where Katsuhiro Harada and Geoff Keighly are posing for the camera.
Tekken 8—the next iteration in the legendary Tekken franchise—has just had its initial title screen surface online, showcasing what the visuals of the initial menu are going to look like when you first boot up the game. The revelation comes from a newly posted photo by Geoff Keighley on Twitter, where the renowned television presenter is posing with Katsuhiro Harada and the title screen of the game can be seen in the background.

If you take a close, hard look at the picture’s background, you’ll observe a monitor, which is seemingly hooked up to a PlayStation 5, given that the DualSense is laying on the table flat. The monitor comprises what appears to be the start screen of Tekken 8, judging from the similar look the previous renditions in the series have been giving off for a while now. Here’s a more zoomed-in photo of the matter at hand that you can check out.
Although not substantial, it’s noticeable how the developers have decided to add the face of a character to the title screen—something that wasn’t practiced in the last three mainline Tekken games at least. It could mean that Kazuya has a much bigger role to play in the upcoming fighter this time around, and there could be a more outlined story mode to get at in Tekken 8.
The title in question is finally on its way to release for major video game platforms after 8 whole years (coincidence?) and fans just can’t get enough of what’s about to come. Developer Bandai Namco is pushing out character reveals one after the other, starting things off with a showcase of Paul Phoenix, the Deathfist master, and continuing up until Hworang for now.
Other major characters that have followed suit so far include Jack-8, Leroy Smith, Asuka Kazama, Lili, Ling Xiaoyu, Jun Kazama, King, Marshall Law, Lars Alexandersson, and Jin Kazama. Many of the title’s front-running characters have yet to make an appearance, including Lee Chaolan, Lei Wulong, Heihachi Mishima, and Yoshimtsu, among other fan favorites.
In other news, Tekken frontman Katsuhiro Harada casually confirmed on Twitter that Tekken 8 would be receiving rollback netcode and cross-platform play right from the get-go. This is a major step up from the previous entry in the series. Although the developers have said in the past that Tekken 7 does actually have the rollback feature embedded, players and fans are of a different opinion.
They highlight how competitive multiplayer shows signs of delay-based netcode, where your inputs aren’t registered unless the internet connection of both playing parties is stable. It’s only hopeful thinking that Tekken 8 will be exempt from such issues and will address the matter in question straight off the bat. After all, the rest of the game appears to be taking a step in the right direction, speaking from the perspective of a beginner player.
Tekken 8 will make landfall sometime in the not-so-distant future for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, while effectively skipping last-gen consoles.
