40 million players on the franchise,” reports the official Twitter handle of The Crew. Evidently, the franchise has welcomed a massive influx of players over the years across both its games—The Crew and The Crew 2. The titles were released in 2014 and 2018, respectively.

On the flip side, though, some crucial details regarding the racing simulator also surfaced in recent times. For one, datamining revealed that Motorfest started out as plain and simple DLC for The Crew 2 but was later made to be a totally separate game, rebuilt from the ground up.

Internally, the game was titled Project Orlando, and circulating rumors in the past seem to conform that Motorfest was only planned as DLC for The Crew 2. Things took a drastic turn at some point during the project’s development, and the people up high saw heightened potential.

Moreover, the surfacing leaks already described the setting of the upcoming racer. Apparently, at the time, which has now been confirmed, The Crew Motorfest finds itself taking place in a Hawaiian island of O’ahu, allowing players to traverse gorgeous landscapes in blazing-fast fashion.

Getting a little sentimental with the official announcement there, the Creative Director of the French-based Ubisoft Ivory Tower studio has described how the developers have come so far from where they started out.

Specific video game franchises such as The Crew and Forza Horizon have made immense headway in the scope of racing games, not only flourishing themselves, but making space for others to come forward as well.

Moreover, Xbox’s Forza Horizon series, in particular, has been making headlines in recent times for other reasons. Xbox’s front-runner has managed to claim a spot on Japanese retail charts after 7 years. During this time frame, no other Xbox exclusive had come forward to boast such an accomplishment.

Final Fantasy XV was the last game to sport such novelty, but Forza Horizon 5 has made a comeback on that front, delivering an absolutely sensational car racing experience day in and day out.

The Crew Motorfest looks utterly promising and is definitely something that you should keep an eye out for. The game can even be wishlisted at the moment, if you’d like to stay up to date with the title’s release.

Ubisoft’s freshly announced racer is scheduled to release sometime in 2023, since a solid launch date has not been given yet. The platforms that the game will be coming to include Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
