The Witcher 3’s Netflix DLC Set To Open A Door Locked For Seven Years

Open Sesame!

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is about to enter some uncharted territories. The Witcher 3’s next-gen update will be opening doors to a whole new slew of upgrades which will include new graphical options and a quest that can be linked back to the wildly famous The Witcher Netflix show.

While all of these may be figurative doors, the upcoming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will also be opening a literal door, and the OGs know exactly what we are talking about.

MAJOR TAKEAWAYS:

  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt next-gen upgrade is set to hit the market on December 14.
  • The update will include new graphical options, bug fixes as well as quests linked to the Netflix show.
  • The upgrade will also include an open mine door that has been sealed since the game first launched in 2015.

Now, this door is situated in The Devil’s Pit in Velen, which is the place Geralt goes to as soon as he comes out of the White Orchard. Many players may remember that in that particular area, there is a mine that has not been accessible to players since the debut of the game.

According to Eurogamer, this new area will, in fact, serve as The Witcher Netflix DLC. This particular area will be for a more scavenger hunt type of quest. The quest’s root can, in fact, be traced back to the Netflix series.

Apparently, those locked doors have been guarding a secret, and it seems that the secret is about to see the light of day. Behind the door of the mine is a slew of humanoid enemies waiting to pounce.

According to the reports, while The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt DLC is pretty “memorable,” it will not really add much to the game. It should be played as a fun side quest that will take a little over half an hour. However, one key thing to note is that there are several different endings players may be able to get.

As per Eurogamer, the quest was given a level of 15, so it is very likely that players will have to level up and come back to play the quest.

The addition of a Netflix-inspired side quest may seem like the first step to a partnership between Netflix and CD Projekt Red. However, this might not be the case.

The acting narrative director Philip Webber has this to say about it, “To be honest, I’m not sure, “ He continues, “I think it’s cool to share stuff but we also want to make sure that we also stick to our universe overall.”

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be available on multiple different platforms. These include PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, as well as PC. It will be available for players on December 14, 2022. However, the Nintendo Switch update will be coming in later.
