In a length interview with CNBC via MediaPost, Tony Vinciquerra, CEO of Sony Picture Entertainment, discussed various factors and the companies’ current movie business. He talked about the COVID-19 meta and shared Sony’s plan to release movies next year. In the same interview, Vinciquerra explained that going forward; consumers will see more content originated from Sony Companies itself, further claiming that there are “three movies and seven TV shows from PlayStation games in development.”
“We have no specific plan yet,” Vinciquerra says. “But we have a program within the company called One Sony. You’ll be seeing a lot more integration of Sony companies together.”
This seemingly creates a lot of hype, especially with the “three movies and seven TV shows” statement. However, after last year, we did have a slight idea, Shawn Layden, Chairman of Worldwide Studios, said they were already in the process of developing TV Content based on PlayStation Video-Games.
“For the last year and a half, two years, we’ve spent time trying to understand the industry, talking to writers, directors, producers,” said Qizilbash. “We talked to [film producer] Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Kevin Feige to really get an understanding of the industry.”
“We’ve got 25 years of game development experience, and that’s created 25 years of great games, franchises, and stories. We feel that now is a good time to look at other media opportunities across streaming or film or television to give our worlds life in another spectrum,”
As of yet, we are aware of The Last Of Us TV Series that is being directed by Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and, of course, Neil Druckmann. Similarly, there is also Uncharted movie that has notable actors like Mark Wahlberg, Tom Holland, and Sophia Ali in its cast.
