Story Highlights
- A Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch OLED is rumored to launch tomorrow.
- The announcement will supposedly follow the game’s 10-minute showcase taking place today at 7:00 a.m. PT.
According to a GameStop employee on Reddit, the previously leaked The Legend of Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch is set to be released tomorrow. The employee reports that a new Switch SKU was added to their system ahead of a possible announcement tomorrow. A picture was posted on the thread showing the entry for the Switch SKU.
This is also right ahead of the upcoming public showcase for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom which is due a few hours from now, showcasing “roughly 10 minutes of gameplay” for the upcoming title. Based on this, we can likely expect an announcement of a new Switch model at the end of the showcase.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom is one of the most highly anticipated games of the year. Following up on what might be the greatest open-world game of all time in the eyes of many, it has rightly so garnered the attention of everyone. While previous trailers have only shown brief glimpses of the game so far, this is the first time we will get to see the game properly in action.
On the topic of The Legend of Zelda, the game garnered controversy over Nintendo’s decision to charge $70 for the game. CEO of Nintendo USA, Doug Bowser, responded to the backlash by saying,
We look at what the game has to offer. I think fans will find this is an incredibly full, deeply immersive experience. The price point reflects the type of experience that fans can expect when it comes to playing this particular game. This isn’t a price point that we’ll necessarily have on all our titles. It’s actually a fairly common pricing model either here or in Europe or other parts of the world, where the pricing may vary depending on the game itself.”
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom is set to launch on May 12 this year, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
