The Reddit user dumplingyoon iterated their discovery in the unofficial Zelda subreddit, detailing the particulars about the bug. This massive glitch has seemingly reset a bundle of quests for the user during their playthrough, resulting in the gameplay progression getting all messed up. The set of affected quests seems to all stem from the humble village of Lookout Landing; it is a notable central hub that sees a lot of activity in the title.

The Tears of the Kingdom player has not found the specific reason or any guesses that could have led to such dire results for the game. It is safe to say that this is a very rare event that most users of the new title will likely never get to see, which serves as a sigh of relief for the wider community. The user has elaborated on all the quests impacted by the bug, detailed below.
The first quest that got reset was the Lurelin Village quest of the merchant; it is part of a bigger quest chain that focuses on helping the NPCs restore the village after pirate attacks. The Reddit user rebuilt the village successfully, but the quest was randomly reset to its starting point. Hence, it is now stuck in a deadlock as it cannot continue because the user has met the needs.
Wortsworth’s Ancient Hylian quest was also unfortunately reset, which caused Wortsworth to vanish entirely from the world. Moreover, the NPCs in the village also seem to pretend that Wortsworth is present by commenting about him when the character is nowhere to be seen.
The Demon Statue quest in the bunker was also reversed for the user in the middle, causing the Reddit user to turn it back into the cleaning lady again after completing it once. Regardless, the worst quest to get harmed by the bug was the “A Mystery in the Depths” quest; since it was reset halfway, it could not be completed anymore since the specific task was already done, breaking the playthrough.
No other detailed records of such a disastrous bug have been stated frequently anywhere for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The player has invested over 40 hours into the playthrough, and the game-breaking now would require them to start a new voyage altogether.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom came out on May 12, 2023, for the Nintendo Switch only, but it is possible to emulate the entry on the PC. It is reportedly already the best-rated title of all time on OpenCritic.
