Abandoned Free For Owners of Blue Box’s Previous Game

From The Haunting to Abandoned

Speaking to IGN in an interview, Hasan Kahraman, the head of Blue Box Studios mentioned that people who buy Blue Box’s previous unfinished title will also get their newest unfinished title for free. Their last game was a Steam Early Access game called The Haunting that launched to a noticeably negative reception with Blue Box then handing the reigns for development to a studio called CreateQ, a four-person dev team consisting of friends of Blue Box. Since then there has been no news about the game.

Talking to IGN, Kahraman mentions that those who purchase the now Early Access version of The Haunting will get Abandoned free of charge, which I assume means as much literally as it does figuratively. Players will have to fill out a form and provide proof of purchase on the Blue Box website to get a free copy for Abandoned. Kahraman also confirms that when The Haunting launches out of early access which will be alongside Abandoned’s gameplay reveal, it will be a free-to-play title.

This is also following the disastrous launch of the Abandoned real-time experience app that was supposed to offer a tease for the game but turned out to be an already previously released clip of a man walking with the Abandoned title appearing. Since that time a lot of new fairly damning details have also emerged regarding Blue Box and the past projects that they worked on which they, for the lack of a better word, abandoned. During the interview Kahraman expresses concern over these rumors saying:

If I were a gamer and if someone else was doing exactly the same thing, I would be really hyped to see a real-time experience, and if it wasn’t coming, I would be disappointed” He continues, “But they’re labeling us as scammers–that hurts. I still respect everyone really, and I’m hoping to see them still looking out for Abandoned. I do understand and I have nothing against them really. It only hurts.

This image detailing Blue Box’s previous projects has been circulating around the internet for the past week.

As of now, the Jury is still out for where Abandoned really stands. Some believe it’s just an indie game, others believe it’s a new Silent Hill/Metal Gear game and now there are also a large number of people believing the entire thing is a sham. Whatever happens following this long period of inane conjecture, we can only hope the payoff is worth the trouble.
