Nintendo and LEGO appear to be gearing up for another exciting release. This collaboration has yet to receive official confirmation from LEGO or Nintendo, but credible leaks and sightings at major events hint strongly at its release.
Credible leaker @fateful_lego shared a box art of a LEGO set called ”Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi” on his Instagram. This was the origin of the leak, further intrigue was added by Twitter user @dveese, in photos posted of the San Diego Comic-Con on his account showing the leaked LEGO set, which gave confidence to the initial rumor.
Analyzing the leaks we can say that the potential set captures the iconic sight of a pixelated Mario riding Yoshi from the classic SNES game Super Mario World. For Mario fans, this is epic as the scene holds a special place in the hearts of those who grew up playing the game. One of the major highlights from the leaked box art was Yoshi’s arm color.
What The New Leaked Super Mario World LEGO Set Means
In the original Super Mario World game for the SNES, Yoshi’s arms were orange. However, in later versions of the game, such as the Game Boy Advance port and other subsequent releases, Yoshi’s arm color was changed to green.
According to the box, the set contains 1,215 pieces and features a crank mechanism at the base. When the crank is turned, it presumably animates Mario and Yoshi.
This potential new release would be a great addition to the growing lineup of LEGO Super Mario sets, which fans and collectors have highly rated. Recent additions to the series include the Yoshis’ Egg-Cellent Forest and Bowser’s Muscle Car. With the potential new set, we can only hope that LEGO’s continued commitment to expand the Super Mario universe doesn’t halt anytime soon.
