Roblox, the renowned game platform, is venturing into the unexplored world of television with two new programs. The first announced series is based on the survival game Creatures of Sonaria.

An episodic series based on the Roblox game Creatures of Sonaria is in the works, as per Deadline. The series will be produced by Wind Sun Sky Entertainment and Productivity Media and will be supervised by Catherine Winder, current CEO and executive producer of Wind Sun Sky.

According to Samuel Garcia of the studio, the show’s production crew will collaborate with the game’s publisher, Twin Atlas.

I am very excited to work with Catherine, Jay and the innovative team of storytellers at WSS to add narrative depth to our characters and in turn further engage and delight our fans in a whole new way.”

Sonar Studios’ Creatures of Sonaria is a survival game on Roblox. The game takes place in a universe full of strange creatures struggling for survival.

Roblox has given individuals of various ages and levels of expertise the opportunity to create games that have achieved enormous popularity. Creatures of Sonaria will be one of the first Roblox games, along with the Twilight Daycare Series, to make the transition to a new media.

The new animated series will be produced by Wind Sun Sky Entertainment and led by CEO Catherine Winder, who formerly worked as an executive at Lucasfilm.

Wind Sun Sky is famed for the Amazon Prime series Invincible, which will come for a second series later this year, while Winder has collaborated on projects such as The Clone Wars Television series and the Angry Birds Movie.

As the partnership of PMI and WSS expands, we will continue to look for rich universes with cross platform, immersive potential, like Creatures of Sonaria, to partner up with and extend into the kind of gamified storyworlds that global audiences and fans are looking for in the metaverse,” added WSS’s Catherine Winder and PMI’s William Santor.

It appears that video game adaptations are the latest trend in Hollywood. While they have always existed, they have rarely been fruitful.

Very few titles have translated their same level of success to other mediums but the recent release of The Last Of Us TV series has shattered several records thus inspiring a new surge of several gaming companies putting their notable entries in line for adaptations.

The Last of Us appears to be the beginning of what could be a lively and enjoyable next couple of years for video game adaptations.
