The 2017 memorable remakes and the stellar 2020 entry revived the Crash Bandicoot franchise, spawning an influx of new players alongside the nostalgic audience. Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is famous for striking an ideal balance between old features and new improvements.

However, another game is rumored to be in development alongside Crash Bandicoot 4, which never saw the light of day. An influential Toys for Bob insider, Liam Robertson, has seemingly revealed new information and never-seen-before images of the long-rumored project regarding Crash Bandicoot Wumpa League.

As per Liam, the rumored entry had been in the works even before the fourth iteration was announced. Initially slated for a 2021 release, the plans were scrapped after developers left the team. Regardless, Liam has started noticing new activity in its development after a long break.

Crash Bandicoot Wumpa League was initially slated for a 2021 release, but it was canceled following some issues in the company. Per Liam, prominent figures left the company to work on Call of Duty: Warzone at the time. However, the multiplayer game was in the brewer even before the announcement of Crash Bandicoot 4.

Crash bandicoot Wumpa League is a team-based online competitive multiplayer experience that includes a playable roster of characters that appeared in the latest installment. Moreover, an exclusive character was also revealed in the 5-minute video.

The project utilizes Crash Bandicoot 4’s engine and assets to build an online experience. The players will have to collect Wumpa Fruit and drop it off in a bank while trying to hinder the progress of the other team by attacking it out of their hands.

The characters can be KO’d if dropped in various hazards at each level or if enough damage is received. Liam also discusses how each level will incorporate various hurdles, like rising acid, that can be escaped by using a glider to ascend platforms.

Crash Bandicoot Wumpa League may include various cosmetics and skins, as shown in the primitive development footage. According to the insider, we may see its release in some way or another. Furthermore, the early in-game footage does not show the final product in any way.

The chronicles of the nostalgic Crash Bandicoot games go back several decennia, with the trilogy dominating the original PlayStation. Unfortunately, the series saw a decline following some infamous sequels that failed to perform well. The series soon received a miscellany of fantastic remakes of the original trilogy half a decade ago.

And Ultimately, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time brought the franchise back to its prime by molding the simple 3D platformer with a modern twist without losing its essence held beloved by fans.

It is enticing to see developers having plans for more renditions in the series, knowing Crash Bandicoot Wumpa League was in the oven even before the official announcement of Crash Bandicoot 4. The aforesaid rumor strengthens the hope for another entry, but it should be taken with a pinch of salt since nothing is confirmed.
