- It is the first game to use the new tech, which has unveiled exhilarating results.
The contentious high-budget AAA title, Forspoken, arrived just recently, and it has blown the players away with its blazing fast load times on PC and the PlayStation 5. The title utilizes a whole new innovative technology that was only announced by Microsoft a few months ago.
On PC, Forspoken is the first actual game to integrate Microsoft’s new DirectStorage 1.1 technology that is built around helping titles to load faster by a vast noticeable margin. As a result, the load times are barely lasting a second for some players, hurling you into the fantasy world of Athia within a single blink.

Many players have been in awe of the highly reduced load times that seem to be barely integrated into the game because of the DirectStorage 1.1 tech. The tweet above showcases the wonders of the new GPU decompression tech included in Forspoken. The user loads out of the title screen right into the gameplay within a mere moment.
Fans have reported different results in benchmarks, with some getting up to almost 2 seconds of load times due to the lingering disparities in various PCs. Digging through the Steam Forspoken files only recently confirmed the integration of DirectStorage 1.1 to the new polemical entry, which came as a surprise to the community.

In the past, Forspoken was announced to be among the first to utilize the DirectStorage technology. However, it was anticipated to be the 1.0 version, which appeared to be initially planned for the entry.
The new 1.1 version is devised to handle how games presently depend on the processor to decompress the various digital assets during the loading time, which can form a bottleneck. The GPU decompression frees up the CPU to focus on the other intensive tasks, which allows simultaneous resource usage to help games load faster.
Many graphic card vendors had decided to support Microsoft’s new initiative in aiding developers to add GPU decompression effectively in AAA entries to reduce load times. As a result, giants like Intel, Nvidia, and AMD started issuing software driver updates for their graphics cards to employ the effects of DirectStorage 1.1.
The DirectStorage tech requires its own slew of demands to run, such as the graphic cards supporting DirectX 12. Moreover, it only works with specific types of SSDs, and will not be realized on traditional platter drives or 2.5-inch SSDs.
Despite the good news, Forspoken is an intensive resource hogger on PC and will drain your system out of its vitality unless it is equipped with all the latest parts.
For instance, Square Enix’s new IP requires a whopping 32GB RAM alongside an AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT 16GB or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 (16 GB VRAM) just to run at 60 FPS on 2160p resolution. Naturally, the huge system requirements drew a tidal wave of criticism from the community.
However, a whole other impediment seems to be the game’s biggest problem; watching the video below may help you make the final decision if you fancy purchasing the game.
