The Last of Us Part 1 PC version was released only a few weeks ago, and it is already about to become more immersive, with a new first-person mod that is in the brewer. We will soon be able to experience the fascinating fungal-infested world through the eyes of Joel. The renowned YouTuber, VoyagersRevenge, known for creating cinematic gameplay videos, is reportedly working on the mod in question for the survival horror experience.
The nearly ten-minute video features Joel dealing with both human and post-apocalyptic enemies through the first-person perspective, letting us see every strand of grass swaying in high quality. As per the creator, all the encounters seen in the video are laced with the highest difficulty for the game, which results in quite a realistic experience even for fans all too familiar with the allure of The Last of Us Part 1 on PC.
The weapons have also been upgraded to “allow for aggressive gameplay.” The only exception to difficulty is the abundant availability of resources. Moreover, specific settings were tinkered with to allow some HUD to show up in the grounded mod for additional realism in the video. “Custom difficulty also allows some HUD elements to be seen on grounded.” It is worth noting that there is not a lot of info available for the mod.
The YouTuber has not elaborated on when the mod will release. The only clue we have currently suggests we may see another update in the form of a video when the aforementioned gameplay hits 2000 likes. Besides the first-person mod, we also don’t know what other changes it may bring upon release. Nevertheless, the FPS mod alone looks quite remarkable and makes The Last of Us Part 1 look like a whole new game.
While the first-person camera perspective aligns ideally with the character movements, it also comes with a few hiccups that can use a fix before the mod’s eventual release. In some of the clips in the video, the gun seems to be misplaced in some scenes, making the combat and animations look a little awkward for those users with sharp eyes. Regardless, it still manages to capture the beauty of the world presented in The Last of Us Part 1.
All in all, it is quite a surprise for such an immersive mod to pop up just after two weeks after the game’s official release on PC. The Last of Us Part 1 PC release was not without its hurdles, as many bugs and bad optimization were present in the game, like many recent PC ports. While the initial release did disappoint the fans and dropped its rating to mostly negative, many patches since then have enhanced the game to the intended level.
