New, Hidden Hi-Fi Rush Steam Achievements Point At Imminent DLC

The base game is fantastic and more content for it would simply never go wrong.

Story Highlights

  • Hi-Fi Rush is a 2023-released action-packed third-person game with a heavy emphasis on rhythm-based gameplay. It was shadow-dropped during the Xbox and Bethesda Developer Direct on January 25 but didn’t take long to become an instant hit for the way it was developed.
  • Despite coming out mere months ago, it appears that Tango Gameworks—the developer of Hi-Fi Rush—is plotting DLC for its front-running title.
  • This is according to a new update on Hi-Fi Rush’s Steam page, brought forward by Steam Database. A total of 10 new achievements with no proper display names have surfaced on the title’s SteamDB page along with their descriptions hidden.
  • The listings could mean nothing, but considering the fact that the Xbox Games Showcase and Starfield Direct is up and coming soon, it is highly likely that this alleged DLC will be shown off at the event.

According to Hi-Fi Rush’s updated SteamDB page, 10 new achievements with TBA (To Be Announced) display names and hidden descriptions have been spotted, hinting at new DLC for Tango Gameworks‘ latest rhythm-based action title. The last record update shown on the page states 11 hours ago at the time of writing, and this is likely when additional achievements were added to Hi-Fi Rush.

No official corroboration is present at the moment, and the developers have yet to comment on the situation. Tango Gameworks has released no story-expanding DLC for Hi-Fi Rush so far, but apparently, that could change soon. With this being said, it bears noticing that these seemingly enticing achievements could otherwise be a hiccup from someone on the back end, thereby getting our hopes up for no reason.

That is why you should keep a pinch of salt nearby as you go through the scoop. On the other hand, these hidden unlockables could be signaling toward the launch of additional downloadable content for the title, potentially to be announced during the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase, which is scheduled to happen on June 11. A second shadow drop would be totally off the charts for Tango, fans say.

Speaking of which, those who’ve played Hi-Fi Rush have nothing but positive remarks to hold the title with. One fan upon hearing the rumor of new incoming content for the game says,

If they are shadowing dropping DLC this is a real smart move! I loved HIFI-Rush and how it was shadow dropped but that was at Xbox’s first Developers Direct which was new and meant to be small so a lot of people missed out on the game.

But this showcase is going to have WAY MORE EYES so I hope a lot of people check this game out cause it’s seriously amazing. Geoff always likes to add a indie game as a GOTY contender and HIFI RUSH 100% deserves that slot.”

It’s flat-out remarkable how Hi-Fi Rush found success with zero marketing, considering that it hit 10,000 reviews on Steam within the first month of its release, with 99% of them being downright positive. Tango Gamework’s highly stylized action title even led OpenCritic’s 2023 Hall of Fame award finalists at one point, being one of the best-rated games of the year so far.

Some of the biggest selling points of Hi-Fi Rush that seem to resonate with critics and fans alike is its overall art direction, coupled with the title’s rip-roaring gameplay that lets players dive into a fun-filled, humorous gameplay experience, and, of course, slay to the rhythm. Despite some of its apparent pitfalls, such as the rhythm mechanic sometimes not registering with too much impact, new content for the game would be extremely welcome.

Hi-Fi Rush is available to play on Steam and the Xbox Series X|S consoles. The game was released on January 26, 2023.
