Gameplay From Arc Raider’s Closed Alpha Leaks Online

One of the major projects Embark Studios is currently working on has suffered a major leak in recent times. Arc Raiders is the Stockholm-based developer’s forthcoming Player vs Player vs Environment  (PvPvE) shooter that currently remains under the works. Following Embark’s announcement of the closed alpha playtest and the actual event taking place, a full sequence of the title’s gameplay has been outed for the world to see. 

While the original YouTube video that comprised the leak has been taken down for obvious reasons, plenty of mirror videos have stretched all across the wide interweb. One of them is available on Gofile.io at the time of writing, but that too could taste dust anytime now. Catch a quick glance at all that’s different from initial expectations, so you know what to anticipate at the time of the game’s full release.

Judging from the leaked video, development on Arc Raiders appears to be sailing smoothly, although there have been instances in the past that may suggest otherwise. For starters, the whole game has had its genre switched from “cooperative third-person shooter” to “PvPvE extraction shooter” back in May this year. The game’s Executive Producer said in a blog post, 

Last year, we made the decision to move the release of ARC Raiders in order to focus on releasing THE FINALS, our team-based first-person shooter, as our first game. At that time, we also said we were giving the ARC Raiders team time to add PvP to the existing foundation of the game.

Since then, over the course of development, ARC Raiders has taken the shape of what we believe to be a truly promising PvPvE survival extraction shooter — a game that stays true to the ARC Raiders universe and that we’re having a blast testing internally.”

Before that, the developers decided to push the release date of Arc Raiders to 2023, so they could prioritize another project of theirs, titled The Finals, formerly called Project Discovery. As per Embark Studios, The Finals will be a first-person shooter and the developer’s first game to hit the market. Studio representative Patrick Söderlund explained why this came to be instead of Arc Raiders releasing first. 

We’ve got a number of super talented people with ample fps experience here at Embark, and the development of Project Discovery has progressed faster than we first imagined, especially over the past few months.

So much so, that we started facing the prospect of being able to release two games simultaneously. For a young, relatively small studio like ours, releasing two games in short succession would have strained our teams and resources, many of which are shared between the two projects.”

Embark’s third-person shooter is set to arrive sometime this year for a multitude of platforms, including Steam, Epic Games Store, Nvidia GeForce Now, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
