As of recent, Denuvo has been in the news a lot. While many companies, such as Eidos-Montréal and Bandai Namco Entertainment, seem to be removing the anti-tamper technology from their games because of the performance issues that it causes in them, Ubisoft seems to be defending it. Instead of Denuvo Anti-Tamper, the company is blaming third-party applications, such as Discord and Skype, for the performance issues and stutters in its games.
In a recent article posted on the Ubisoft website a few days ago, the company addressed the performance issues that players may experience in its games and mentions that “third-party software running in the background” can be the reason. Of course, this is correct; third-party applications do consume resources and can interfere with the game’s performance. However, Ubisoft completely ignores the fact that its games use Denuvo Anti-Tamper, which has been shown to cause significant performance issues in every game.

Recently, Eidos-Montréal removed Denuvo’s anti-tamper technology from the 2015 and 2018 instalments of the Tomb Raider franchise, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and benchmarks from Shadow of the Tomb Raider released soon after the update showed a significant increase in performance after the removal of Denuvo Anti-Tamper.
Given the issues that Ubisoft’s games, such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, have had with the performance upon release, the company can really benefit from removing Denuvo’s anti-tamper technology. Last month, Crystal Dynamics removed Denuvo Anti-Tamper from Marvel’s Avengers and more companies are following this trend. In fact, Microsoft even went as far as to propose its own blockchain-based anti-piracy system in August.
However, it also seems like Denuvo’s dominion won’t be ending anytime soon either. In July, the company joined hands with Steam and has even made its way to consoles. Ubisoft blaming third-party applications instead of Denuvo is not convincing players, as many have responded to the article with criticism, saying that the company is forcing players to use its own applications, such as Ubisoft Connect, only.
Instead of creating a guide for players, you should do it for your teams on how to optimize games. I don't have as much issues with games from other studios. And so far some of your games are the only ones which forced me to use a memory cleaner while playing due to memory leaks.

Furthermore, the article also suggests clean-booting your entire PC just to prevent any performance issues in the games and many players think that Ubisoft is blaming everything but itself. The company has become notorious for releasing unoptimised games upon release and this seems like another gimmick to distract players from one of the most obvious factors as to why its games are the way they are.
