Players Unable To Upgrade Far Cry 6 PS4 Disc Copies To PS5

Disc copies of Far Cry 6 in the United Kingdom are Russian ones that cannot be upgraded to PlayStation 5, says Ubisoft.

Far Cry 6 was released recently and players have been very anxious to play the game on current-generation consoles. However, since then, many players have complained that the disc copies of Ubisoft’s brand-new instalment to the Far Cry franchise can’t be upgraded from the PlayStation 4 to the PlayStation 5 in the United Kingdom.

According to a video posted by @sjpearson85 on Twitter, Ubisoft has sent out region-restricted disc copies of Far Cry 6 to other regions. As a result, players are unable to upgrade their PlayStation 4 disc copies of the game to the PlayStation 5, and this seems to be happening in the United Kingdom only, for now.

Since the disc copies of Far Cry 6 are region-restricted, players can’t play any of the DLCs that they’ve purchased along with the game and they lose all their in-game progress on their primary account. For now, this issue can be bypassed by creating a new Russian region PlayStation Network account.

However, Ubisoft did reach out to Eurogamer earlier today and told them that it is aware of the concerns of many players, and is investigating the issue. “The team is aware of reports that some players are unable to upgrade their PlayStation 4 version of Far Cry 6 to the PlayStation 5 version,” said a Ubisoft spokesperson. “We are investigating the issue and will provide an update ASAP.”

This isn’t the first time this has happened either. Last year, many players complained about a similar issue with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs: Legion in the United Kingdom. The issue was eventually resolved but it did the company two weeks to do so. Hopefully, Ubisoft resolves this issue with Far Cry 6 soon.
