Story Highlights
- Alan Wake 2 is one of the biggest AAA-grade releases to come out in 2023, following years of anticipation after the release of the first game back in 2010.
- The game is going to make landfall later this month and before that, the devs have released the system requirements on PC for Alan Wake 2, but they look none too forgiving.
- The minimum specs required to smoothly run the survival horror revolve around a GeForce RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 6600, followed by a CPU that’s either an Intel i5-7600K or an AMD equivalent.
Alan Wake 2’s system requirements for PC players have been unveiled, and oh boy, you better be packing one beast of a rig if you want to play Remedy’s next-gen survival horror at its very best. Taking a closer look at the “Minimum” tab, you need to have a GeForce RTX 2060 or Radeon RTX 6600 GPU, along with 16 GB RAM, 6 GB VRAM, Intel i5-7600K or AMD equivalent CPU, and 90 GB SSD at the very least to run it.
Hey PC gamers! Here you have a full list of PC system requirements for Alan Wake 2.

The devs just called me poor in 4 languages with this specs requirement drop, but I’m glad I have a capable PlayStation 5 to play Alan Wake 2 on when it finally comes out. Taking in the news on X (formerly Twitter), fans have voiced their concerns over the resource-intensiveness of the forthcoming third-person shooter. NikTek writes, “An RTX 3070 is starting to become low-end real quick.”
On the other hand, some are worried whether Alan Wake 2 will turn out optimized for PC or if it is going to be yet another participant of the broken PC releases club. Paradoxical_95 writes, “What is this? Laziness? Please optimize it for PC. Control is like 4 years old, IDTS Northlight engine grew up this much to have such requirements on PC? If it can run on a PS5 then this ain’t it chief. You guys gotta optimize.”
It bears mentioning here that the inclusion of temporal graphics upscaling programs, such as DLSS and FSR2, has been kept in as a requirement for the “Performance” graphical mode, even while demanding an RTX 3070 GPU at 1080p resolution. Folks around different forums are calling this a red flag, and fearing that Alan Wake 2 could look visually terrible when it’s finally out. I sure hope that’s not the actual case.

If you’re worried about whether your PC will be able to handle Alan Wake 2, a safer route is to get the game on the Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5, considering that you’ve already got either of these consoles. We saw trouble with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, The Last of Us Part 1, Gotham Knights, and Forspoken on their respective PC ports, but not a lot on their console counterparts.
Alan Wake 2 will make landfall on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 27, 2023. We recently held an interview with the game’s director Sam Lake, going over the sequel’s story elements and what we can expect from the title. Give it a read for more details and insightful information about the IP, such as Saga Anderson and her potential relation to someone from the first game.
