Alan Wake 2 Devs Tease New Game Plus Mode For December

A tweet too obvious gives it away.

Story Highlights

  • Alan Wake 2 is a smash-hit release of 2023, being a proponent of the survival horror genre.
  • The game does not have a New Game Plus mode yet, but apparently, it’s coming soon.
  • The devs have recently let out a tease in a post on X, hinting at the new gameplay mode.

Alan Wake 2 has turned out to be nothing short of exceptional for fans and critics alike, offering a rich survival horror experience with a lot going on for itself. Although the third-person shooter didn’t launch with a New Game Plus mode, it seems quite obvious that it’s about to get one sometime in December, thanks to a recent post on the official Alan Wake 2 X handle.

For those not in the know, New Game Plus lets you play the game from the very beginning with all of your skills, equipment, and in-game currency carrying over from your first playthrough. This means that you get to restart your journey with everything that you previously acquired, so as to play on a higher difficulty level and whatnot. Usually, New Game Plus features added content to some degree, so there’s that.

NG+ aside, fans have bombarded the comments section of the post, demanding a physical release of Alan Wake 2, since the game has launched without one. Remedy said in an interview earlier that it decided to go this route because it helped keep the costs down, and the growing market for digital-only consumers is something that gives them confidence. Still, this won’t stop the players from asking away.

Being Xbox’s highest-rated game, Alan Wake 2 is currently leading the foray at The Game Awards 2023 with 8 nominations, right alongside Baldur’s Gate 3. It’s going toe-to-toe against the likes of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and the Resident Evil 4 remake for the grand Game of the Year distinction. Pretty commendable for Remedy Entertainment, to say the least.
