Story Highlights
Baldur’s Gate 3 launched earlier this year to some stellar reviews. The game initially launched for PC, with a PlayStation release occurring in September. However, despite the unanimous praise the game received, an Xbox version of the game was notably missing. Now, Swen Vincke, CEO of Larian, has given fans a hopeful update in that regard.
Latest on the Xbox – being actively playtested, still on schedule for this year. We'll announce the exact release date when we're sure it's done.

Taking to X, Swen mentioned that the game is actively being playtested on Xbox. The team over at Larian is still on schedule to release it later in the year. While an exact release date is still not confirmed, they’ll announce it once they’re done with the development. The tweet was met with a positive response from fans, many of whom seemed sure the game would be worth the wait.
For the avoidance of doubt, Xbox will indeed feature cross-save not only between Xbox and PC but also Xbox and PlayStation 5, thanks to our Larian accounts system. 👍

Previously, Larian confirmed that the Xbox Series X/S version of Baldur’s Gate 3, will have support for cross-saves. This meant any progress that players might have already made on other platforms would cross over to Xbox. The team thanked the Larian accounts system for this. Fans will even be able to sync their saves from the PC version, and then continue them offline if they wish.
It was also revealed that the reason behind the delay in the game’s Xbox release was because Microsoft wanted parity between the Series X/S variants of Baldur’s Gate 3. This was reportedly causing issues for Larian, and after a meeting with Xbox back in August, they were able to drop the parity clause. As a result, split-screen coop will be available on Series X, but not on Series S. Cross-save progress, however, will be available on both.
Baldur’s Gate 3 was released on PC on August 3, 2023. This was followed by a PlayStation 5 launch on September 6. eXputer rated the title 5/5, calling it one of the greatest RPGs of all time.
