Ark: Survival Ascended Devs Disable PC Crossplay Due To Rampant Cheaters

Ark: Survival Ascended has had a shaky release, to say the least. It has been praised for alluring visuals and gameplay changes but has been under fire for rampant cheaters, performance issues, and much more. The dev Studio Wildcard has made the “difficult decision” to disable PC crossplay entirely due to rampant cheaters after many player reports.

After proper backlash by Ark: Survival Ascended players, the studio has temporarily disabled the PC client from joining official crossplay PVP servers while it partners with Microsoft and anti-cheat software BattleEye to add a “robust” anti-cheat solution for the PC rendition of the game. The PC client is expected to be added back into the roster from “early next week.”

This move by the studio was made to appease players because they were having a really hard time with the game. As per many player reports online, Ark: Survival Ascended is so full of cheaters that a normal playthrough seems impossible for those who prefer to play with other players. Some cheaters can even overload the servers and crash them through various exploits, while others target other players.

The PvP scene was especially disturbed by the rampant PC cheaters because they would ruin the game for everyone involved in a matter of seconds. Nevertheless, the new anti-cheat measure is expected to smoothen things out for the PC players and slash the rampant cheating from the new Ark: Survival Ascended. 

The remaster of Ark: Survival Evolved has been a resounding success despite its fair share of issues. The entry sold a staggering 600,000 copies globally on Steam alone within two weeks of release. After a bundle of delays for console release, the title finally came out and is expected to propel the overall game sales to a couple of millions over the next few months. 

Ark: Survival Ascended launched on October 25 for PC, followed by November 21 for Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X, and November 30 for PlayStation 5.
