The former Battlefield director Marcus Lehto has recently taken to Twitter to share that he has nothing positive to say about EA since his departure. The prominent figure has also co-created the Halo franchise and helmed many notable projects over the years. His intention to leave the leadership role of Ridgeline Games and EA was a sudden shock to the gaming industry, and the whole team felt the ripples of his decision.
Not been saying much here since I don’t have anything positive to say about EA, my recent departure, and how so many, including my team, are suffering due to the industry sweeping layoffs.

EA took drastic action and laid off the whole studio the next day after he quit, along with 5% of its whole global workforce. The company’s entertainment and technology president, Laura Miele, implied that Ridgeline Games was sacked because Marcus left the leadership role earlier. It was responsible for crafting the campaign for Battlefield. But, the task was then handed down to Criterion Games.
Marcus Lehto Quit EA On His Own Accord Earlier This Year
The dev announced his departure near the end of February and confirmed that it was his own decision. He also wanted to take time off from games and decide what to do next. The dev has commented on the raging layoffs in the gaming industry, expressing remorse for his former group of devs that were affected. On the flip side, the community has showered Marcus with a ton of support and goodwill in the replies to his recent tweets.
