Stranger of Paradise PC Port Is A Performance Mess, Players Complain

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins PC port is currently exclusively on the Epic Games Store and not available on any other storefront for PC, including Steam. Being a Final Fantasy game, players started pre-ordering it through the storefront, and upon the release, many are disappointed at the game’s performance.

It’s worth noting that Stranger of Paradise had no demo whatsoever before the release, and that seems like the reason for the disappointment that many players have faced after such high expectations from the game. Epic Games Store does not have any way to let the players complain either, so the reviews are scattered throughout the internet.

In a thread titled “Square Strikes Again: Stranger of Paradise’s PC Port is Chaotic” on ResetEra, players across the world are complaining about how terrible the game is. One user claiming to have an RTX 3080 said that the “PC version is borked.” Another added to that saying, “It has a wealth of visual inconsistencies too,” including character models rendering at very low graphics and the game’s cut-scenes stuttering heavily. That’s not all; people on Reddit and Twitter seem to be even more upset.

A Twitch streamer by the name of Stickman Sham advised players on Twitter to “not get Stranger of Paradise on PC until it is heavily patched,” further adding that the game uses 99% of his GTX 1080 Ti and runs barely at 50 FPS. On Reddit, a user claiming to use an “RTX 3080, and 12600K” complained that the game drops from 120 FPS to 40 or 50 FPS mid-game. The game looks “ugly as hell” and has awful rendering, many pop-ins, distorted visuals, and images are extremely blurred, they added.

In the comments section of their thread, more and more users are coming forward, complaining about the game’s performance. Some even claim the game to be the worst port ever created. This seems to be a concern for Square Enix, which needs to address the issues that so many players are facing. Hopefully, it comes up with a resolution soon.
