Story Highlights
- The Silent Hill 2 remake is one of the finest new games of 2024, launching to great reception.
- The developer has confirmed that Silent Hill 2 has rolled over 1 million copies as of today.
- This news comes in less than a month following the release of the Silent Hill 2 remake.
The folks over at Bloober HQ must be having a field day, as Konami officials report 1 million copies sold for the Silent Hill 2 remake as of today. The news comes less than a month after the release of the survival horror, which is absolutely huge for a game belonging to this genre.
Cumulative worldwide shipments have exceeded 1 million copies. Thank you to everyone who has played,” confirms Konami.
In retrospect, it’s worth mentioning that the original Silent Hill 2, which came out all the way back in 2001, took about a month to reach this milestone and those are its lifetime sales as well.
While it’s true that the remake had sizable hype going for it prior to the title’s release, Bloober has far surpassed expectations with the level of quality on display here. It’s the only title I look forward to playing after work these days, and rightfully so.
The Case For A New Silent Hill Remake Consolidates
I sure as heck hope that this gives Konami enough veritable evidence that Bloober can be trusted with more Silent Hill remakes because that’s what we’re in the need of going forward. My colleague has already written an entire piece talking about how Capcom has to be given its due competition in the remake space, and Silent Hill 2 rolling over more than 1 million copies in less than a month’s time is solid proof that this can happen, even though things did not look that way in the start.
In other news, Konami now has four other Silent Hill projects in the works, including two spin-off titles, an interactive streaming series, and a movie adaptation of Silent Hill.
