Xbox has been performing exceptionally well, and globally, fans have loved that. The console’s sales are steadily growing, and Microsoft is always implanting improved and better strategies to boost these sales. In February, for the first time in history, Xbox outsold PlayStation in the EU market, as per the data from GamesIndustry.biz. However, sales are still suffering heavily in some EU countries, including Germany. Germany is one of the big markets for the EU, and Microsoft is seemingly using a unique strategy to gain more customers.
Earlier today, Microsoft, in collaboration with GameStop, announced that people in Germany would get a brand new Xbox Series S in exchange for their old Xbox console or other consoles at some additional cost. The offer is for the special occasion of Easter and will last from 8th April till 5th May. At first, this might seem like a good deal for people to get a new Xbox Series S, but it is so much more.
For Xbox One X, players will pay 49 €, but for a PlayStation 4, they additionally only need 19 € to get a new Xbox Series S. The main reason for that is Sony’s compatibility with its new games and people can still play the upcoming games on PlayStation 4. Overall, players are extremely positive about the deal from Microsoft and GameStop, and some of them are looking forward to upgrading their old consoles.
Of course, Microsoft’s supposed strategy is to gain more players to join Team Green. Germany has somewhat neglected Xbox consoles in the past, along with some other countries, and the company needs a special push for Xbox consoles in the German market. This strategy to give players a chance to get their hands on Xbox Series S consoles for cheap in exchange for their old consoles, even PlayStation ones, could very well be Microsoft’s ticket to increase its sales in Germany. However, it remains to be seen how these exchange sales will perform, but it does look promising.
