The Stanley Parable was initially released way back in 2011 as a part of Half-Life 2. It was a modification of the game which was available for free to all the players. However, designer William Pugh used the engine to create a stand-alone The Stanley Parable. Galactic Café launched this version of the game on Windows and macOS in 2013. Critics and players alike loved the game and its feature of player choice received a lot of praise. Recently, The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe came out which made the game available on consoles as well. Following this release, a mod developer is making a VR version of the game.
Modder Raicuparta is working on a VR version of The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe and has already started initial work. It will be an unofficial VR version of the drama game from the popular modder. He has already made VR mods for several games and they are pretty good. Development on this VR mod from the modder has only begun. Footage of this early version of the mod on his YouTube channel shows that he has made some progress. VR controllers are already present in the game after such a short time. Raicuparta showed how he used these controllers as laser pointers. So, the early signs of the mod look very promising.
Another interesting detail in the video was the size of the game. The modder doubled the size of all The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe assets to make it fit in the VR world. Everything was made double its original size in this VR mod to fit it in scale. Small tidbits like this really tell how difficult and engrossing game development actually is. Playing this interactive game is an amazing adventure even without VR. So, playing it in VR mode will truly be an experience for the ages. Players can support Raicuparta on his Patreon page, where he’s running many campaigns. Supporting his work will give you access to all his other mods and allow him to make more.
