Seamless Co-Op Is Going To be The Best Way To Play Elden Ring With Your Friends

Once the mod gets fixed, the entire squad is heading into it together.

Story Highlights

  • Elden Ring’s vanilla multiplayer system is full of flaws and restrictions.
  • Seamless Co-op has always been the best way to play the game with your friends.
  • The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC update has broken the mod, but the modders are trying to fix it ASAP.

The famed Seamless Co-op mod for Elden Ring has already been the best way to play the game with your friends. However, the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC and the patch 1.12 update broke the mod and can no longer be used as intended. The modders are diligently trying to fix the mod as soon as possible, and it’s likely that we’ll be able to head into Elden Ring with what is possibly the best multiplayer mod for the game.

Elden Ring’s own multiplayer system is fairly complicated and full of needless restrictions. If you want to play with your friends, there are a lot of hurdles you must face. I’m not saying that the OG multiplayer doesn’t have its charm; invading others and getting invaded yourself is one-of-a-kind fun. However, if you just want to enjoy the game and its story with your friends peacefully, then the vanilla multiplayer system is quite lacking.

The Seamless Co-Op Mod

Easily the best Elden Ring multiplayer mod out there, Seamless Co-op removes almost any restriction the game offers. The best part about the mod is that you can enjoy the story of the game with your friends, and you don’t have to resummon them every time they die. Instead, they will respawn at the last Site of Grace, just like you, the host.

To counter the benefits of not having to resummon, the mod places penalties on the players if they die out in the open. These penalties are referred to as “Rot” and can only be removed by resting at a Site of Grace, which also respawns any enemies that you might have beaten. However, you or your friends don’t have to worry about the Rot when you are fighting against bosses, as you and your friends will be prompted to respawn at the last Site of Grace or Stake of Marika after each of you has died.

These quality-of-life changes are everything you’d ever want from a FromSoftware game’s multiplayer mod. It makes your life super easy, and you don’t have to worry about invaders ruining the fun. The mod allows you to invite a total of 5 other players, and then you all can enjoy the game at the same time.

The Problem With The DLC

Just like any other mod, the Seamless Co-op mod broke when the DLC dropped alongside the major patch 1.12. It usually happens that when a game gets a major update, most mods become unusable. However, due to its popularity, the modders are desperately working to fix the mod as soon as possible.

The Shadow of the Erdtree expansion is massive. There’s a lot to do there, and the only thing that can make it even better is a good multiplayer mod, and that’s exactly what Seamless Coop offers. Once the mod is fixed, it will undoubtedly be the best way to enjoy the Elden Ring DLC with your friends.

The mod’s developer, LukeYui, also posts frequent updates on the development progress on Seamless Co-op’s NexusMods page. Hopefully, we’ll see the fixed version of the mod soon.

Takeaway

Elden Ring’s vanilla multiplayer system is full of flaws, and there’s no doubt about that. However, the community made a mod called Seamless Coop that fixes most of these flaws and offers a “seamless” multiplayer experience to the player. The recent DLC update has caused a few issues with the mod, and it is currently unable to work as intended.

However, the modders are working towards fixing the mod as soon as possible, and we’ll likely see it fixed in the coming days. Till then, we’ll have to make do with what Elden Ring’s original multiplayer system offers.
