Here Are My Top Recommendations From Steam’s FPS Fest

Discounts are running galore.

Story Highlights

  • Valve’s Steam is running a new store-wide sale, featuring great discounts for first-person shooters.
  • The currently applied discounted prices are valid until April 22 at 10 a.m. PST. Best act quickly.
  • Some of the games that you can’t miss during this promotion include Fallout 4, Crysis 3, and others.

It’s that time of the year again. Wait, who am I kidding? It’s that time of the year every month with Steam, which — at this point — is recognized for great deals and discounts on its platform more often than not. This time around though, the folks up high have focused on first-person shooters in particular, thereby calling it the Steam FPS Fest.

If you’re in the mood to let your wallet run a little loose, but don’t exactly know what to spend on, let my curated opinions guide you in the right direction. I’ve collected some of the best FPS’ on promoted prices at the moment, so you won’t have to sift through the list laboriously all by yourself.

8 Of The Best Steam Games On Discount Right Now

Please be advised that these recommendations are entirely subjective, and do not speak for every single player out there. However, given that these games appeal to the masses in the majority of ways, I have confidence that you’ll find them to your liking just as well.

Feel free to add to this list down in the comments section, especially if I missed a good entry.

1. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege

  • Release Date: December 1, 2015
  • Developer: Ubisoft

I’ll be honest with you, you need to have some heart to play Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, because it’s that competitive, and the competition doesn’t always come in a wholesome way. Toxicity in the game is a major issue, so why do I recommend you to pick it up? It’s simple.

Because underneath all the bogus that players have sprung up, Rainbow Six Siege’s gunplay, and overall game design stand unrivaled in the competitive FPS space. You should genuinely give it a go if you find yourself flaunting your FPS skills here and there.

And make sure you read our in-depth review of the title for more of what it does right (and what it gets wrong).

2. Far Cry 6

  • Release Date: October 7, 2021
  • Developer: Ubisoft

Far Cry 6 is a recommended shooter for those who love themselves a little laid-back shooter every once in a while, one that lets you go on wild adventures in an open-world setting, ensued by some really fun and explosively action-oriented set pieces.

Although the title won’t be getting any future updates, probably because Ubisoft is busy working on its sequel, you’ll find Far Cry 6 holding its ground quite well, even in 2024, though I do recommend checking out this PC settings guide for a full optimization tutorial of the shooter.

3. Resident Evil Village

  • Release Date: May 7, 2021
  • Developer: Capcom

Moving up on the list, we’ve got the latest iteration in the long-running Resident Evil franchise making an entry here. Village is a remarkable survival horror experience that I absolutely recommend going through and not just for the sheer gameplay, but because of the amount of fun you can have off of the best Resident Evil Village mods around.

eXputer labels the shooter one of the best games of 2021 that you’re better off not sleeping on

4. Crysis 3 Remastered

  • Release Date: 17 Nov, 2022
  • Developer: Crytek, Saber Interactive

The Crysis franchise of unique first-person shooters is in dire need of a resurgence; having gone through the remastered iteration of Crysis 3, I can easily vouch for that, and I know it’s just not me sharing these feelings. Talk about being in control of a superpowered soldier who’s not going to stop at any cost restoring the peace of the world, overrun by both aliens and humans alike.

The remastered edition of the shooter has amassed a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, which should also be your cue to try it out, considering how it’s retailing for only $5.24 at the moment.

5. Fallout 4

  • Release Date: November 10, 2015
  • Developer: Bethesda Game Studios

Thanks to the Steam FPS Fest promotion coming in hot, Fallout 4 has been discounted to $3.24 at the time of writing. This makes the whole deal nothing but awesome from a value-for-money perspective, considering how this hybrid shooter lets you explore a desolate world full of details and adventures to embark on.

Oh, and Fallout 4 is amazing when it comes down to modding potential. If you head over to Nexus Mods, you’ll find a rich assortment of mods that amplify your gameplay experience greatly.

6. Doom Eternal

  • Release Date: March 20, 2020
  • Developer: id Software

Doom Eternal is a celebration of everything that the Doom franchise has been able to achieve up until now, being the goriest, bloodiest iteration in the series that pits Doomguy in the face of hellish demons like never before. The shooter is retailing for $5.19 on Steam right now; I don’t think you’re going to regret spending this much on something as chaotically fun-filled as this.
