Xbox’s August Sale Is Racking Up Quite The Discount Deals On These Games

Just in case you were thinking of saving some money this month.

Story Highlights

  • The official Xbox Store is live with an array of discounts on different games and items across the board.
  • I’ve compiled some really high-quality titles for you to get into, with all of them on a price cut right now.
  • Baldur’s Gate 3, Alien: Isolation, It Takes Two, and others are up to 75% off, and without Game Pass requirement.

Just about 4 weeks ago, Xbox welcomed a terrific store-wide discount that went as high as 80% off on the likes of Forza Horizon 4. Now, however, the storefront is back with another wave of tantalizing deals on game you may have previously missed, and me looking out for such occasions like a hawk, have compiled a handy list of some of the titles that you should be checking out right now.

Make sure to read until the end of the list for the best results, and do keep it in mind that the sale ends in two weeks. That gives you ample time to make the most out of this generous sales promotion by Xbox.

Xbox’s Mouth-Watering Discounts Are Live On Some Really Good Games

Oh, and if you spot a deal worth talking about, do take to the comments section below and tell us all about it.

1. Alien: Isolation

Alien: Isolation
Alien: Isolation Will Give You the Fright of Your Life

Easily considered one of the most genuinely scary games of all time, Alien: Isolation is nothing to be taken lightly. It’s a video game adaptation of the famous Alien movie franchise, featuring a convincing plot, with great gameplay, and an overall system that actually gets better the higher you crank up the title’s difficulty. I would advise aspiring players to look into The Collection bundle of Alien: Isolation.

It comprises “the full game and seven packs of additional content,” including the Last Survivor and Crew Expendable add-ons, and more. The best part? It’s only setting you back $12.49 at the moment on the Xbox Store, about $3 more than what the base game is coming for right now. You may as well pay the extra few dollars and lean into the complete experience for a title of this quality and standard.

2. Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 Is One Masterpiece of an RPG

Ah, of course. I bought Baldur’s Gate 3 two days ago, so it had to go on sale today, didn’t it? Well, you can thank me for the sacrifice at a later time, because the Xbox Store is letting you save about $14 when purchasing Larian’s grand RPG at the time of writing. Now, don’t tell me you’ve slept on 2023’s Game of the Year winner for nothing.

eXputer reviewed Baldur’s Gate 3 and rated it 5/5, with author Huzaifah Durrani remarking,

Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the greatest RPGs of all time, and a testament to the talent of developer Larian Studios.”

3. Assassin’s Creed Mirage

The Assassin's Creed Bundle
This Assassin’s Creed Bundle Sports Amazing Value for Money

I was originally going to recommend Assassin’s Creed Mirage, but then something much better crossed my eyes. This fantastic Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Mirage bundle is up for grabs for as low as $34.99 right now. I’ll remind you here that the former too is current-gen optimized, so you’ll be able to make the most out of that 60 FPS goodness with enhanced visuals on your Series X console.

As for Mirage, the latest in the long line of Assassin’s Creed games, the action-adventure open-world thriller employs a more back-to-origins approach with a greater emphasis on stealth. eXputer’s 3.5/5.0 review of Mirage praises the title’s creative levels and fluid parkour, with review expert Usama Mehmood saying,

Despite its problems, Assassin’s Creed Mirage genuinely feels like a love letter to the games in the series that kickstarted its legacy.”

4. Cult Of The Lamb

Cult of the Lamb Is a Hit Among the Players

Massive Monster’s Cult of the Lamb really took off during its launch, with more than a million players logging into the platforming action-adventure roguelite during its first week of release. The game boasts surprisingly deep RPG mechanics, with resource management and hack-and-slash combat mixed in between quite elegantly.

Oh, and don’t get me started about the art direction, which is nothing short of a delight to immerse yourself in. Expect slick humor, engaging world-building, and loads and loads of fun in this one, no questions asked. Get it for less than $15 on the Xbox Store thanks to the fresh August sale.

5. It Takes Two

It Takes Two Is Co-Op Bliss

There’s not a world out there where It Takes Two will go on sale and not get recommended by me. This fantastic co-op-focused platformer has the power to mend broken relationships, I kid you not, considering the insane level of creativity on board thanks to the genius of Hazelight Studios. I’m just glad it got the most number of awards for any game in 2021; that’s the least it deserves.
