Baldur’s Gate 3: All Encounters With Alfira [Explained]

With more than 80 hours defending Baldurs Gate, this is my guide on Alfira, the Tiefling Bard.

Alfira in Baldur’s Gate 3 is a Tiefling Bard who can be found at Druid Grove (Emerald Grove) in Act 1. Furthermore, Alfira is a half-demon bard. You will first encounter her in the Druid Grove, struggling to complete a song.

Key Takeaways
  • Alfira BG3 is a Tiefling Bard NPC who is also considered a half-demon bard.
  • In total, you will have two encounters with her in Baldur’s Gate 3:
  • In the first encounter, you are supposed to help Alfira complete the song she is struggling with.
  • If you play your cards right, she will gift you a lute along with proficiency with musical instruments.
  • In the second encounter, she will be murdered, with the blame for her murder being on you.
  • You can handle this interaction in potentially three ways, with three different endings.

First Encounter With Alfira At Druid Grove In Baldur’s Gate 3

Now, for the first encounter during Act 1, you can find her to the east of Druid Grove on a path made of dirt near the edge of a cliff.

And as stated before, you will find her struggling to compose a song. Furthermore, you will have to go through a series of dialogues and choices before you get to the end reward. Also, during this encounter, there will be two performance checks which, if you fail, will end the meeting. So it is a good idea to save the game beforehand.

Pick one of the following from the first set of dialogue:

  • Stay silent and listen.
  • What’s that tune you’re singing?

Interaction: Help Alfira

To complete the quest desirably, you must use the “Let me see if I can help” option in the second set of dialogue to progress further in the quest.

After this, there will be another set of choices which will include the following choices:

  • First things first, what’s the song about?
  • Hand me that lute. We can perform together.
  • Leave.

From here, pick the second option and then select the performance check, where you will have to roll higher than 15, which can be challenging. However, if you fail the first time, you are given another chance where you will have to roll higher than 10. You have to at least pass one of the two checks, after which you will gain the lute and the card actions.

Second Encounter With Alfira At The Camp

Whether you have the first encounter or not, Alfira will meet you at the camp in BG3. She appears at your camp once you have spoken with Kagha at Druid Grove. She will ask to join your band. Moving on, if you accept her offer, she will be murdered, and you will have blood on your hands once you awake.

Now, here you have three choices you can choose to investigate and get to the bottom of the murder, or try to hide the evidence by washing your hands and rolling over the body to try to hide it, or you can just stand there and accept that you committed the murder.

Afterward, Gale will accuse you of the murder, and you can either accept it, deny it, or rather blame it on a wild boar if you have washed your hands and tried to hide the evidence.

My Thoughts

Alfira is one of the characters that I missed in my first couple of playthroughs which was a huge mistake on my part. If you’re a fan of the many random interactions that turn into blood and murder later on in Baldurs Gate 3, I highly recommend playing it out.

She is an extremely powerful companion that you can potentially recruit very early in Act 1. Granted, the quest is a bit luck-based, but then again, what isn’t in DnD? You can finish Act 1 without ever meeting her, but I will recommend talking to her even if you don’t want to recruit her.

And with that, the Baldur’s Gate 3 Alfira guide comes to an end where we entailed all the encounters that happened with Alfira along with her stats.
